Chess is more than tournaments. With KCC Meetups, members organize their own casual chess gatherings: a few friendly games at a café, a blitz evening, a training session or a beginner-friendly afternoon. Meetups take place in Riyadh and all over Saudi Arabia.
A meetup is social chess. It never changes your KCC Elo, your ranking or your title, so you can relax and simply enjoy the game.
Find a meetup
Open Meetups in the main menu. There you can:
- See the upcoming meetups as a list or on a map.
- Filter by city and by type of meetup.
- Tap Show where I am on the map to see how far each meetup is from you. Your position stays on your own device and is never sent to KCC.
Every meetup shows the date and time, the venue, the chess format, the rating range, the organizer and how many places are taken.
Join a meetup
- Log in with your free KCC account.
- Open the meetup and tap Join meetup.
- If the meetup is full, tap Join the waiting list. When someone leaves, the first member on the waiting list gets the place automatically.
You get a reminder the day before and again shortly before the start. With Add to calendar you can save the meetup in your phone's calendar.
Plans changed? Please tap Leave meetup so your place can go to someone else. The meetup page shows until when you can leave.
Host your own meetup
Any adult member can host a meetup:
- On the Meetups page, tap Create meetup.
- Fill in the name, the type, the date and time, the venue and the maximum number of participants. You can also mark the place on the map and set a rating range.
- Choose who can see it: Public, KCC members only, or Invite only with a private link that you send yourself.
- Tap Submit for approval.
KCC checks every meetup before it is published, and you are told as soon as yours is approved. If it is not approved, you see the reason and can change it and send it in again.
As the organizer you can edit the meetup, close registration, send announcements to the attendees and cancel the meetup if it cannot take place. Attendees are told automatically when the date, the time or the venue changes.
Safe and respectful
- Public places only. Meetups are held in public places such as cafés, clubs or community centres, never at a private home.
- For the KCC community only. Meetups on this website are intended for Kings Chess Club members and the wider KCC community. They may not be used to promote, market, or advertise another chess club, academy, organization, business, or individual, whether the meetup is organized by a KCC member or by someone acting on behalf of another entity. KCC reserves the right to reject, remove, or cancel any meetup that does not comply with this policy.
- Your privacy. Only logged-in members can see who is attending. The list shows a first name, photo, country, KCC rating and title, never a phone number. In My account you can choose to appear as "KCC member" instead; the organizer of a meetup you join always sees your name.
- Ladies-only meetups. Only female members can join them, and their attendee list is shown to female members only.
- Children. A child's profile joins a meetup through the parent's account and cannot host one.
- Something wrong? Use Report this meetup on the meetup page. Only KCC organizers read your report.
Please be friendly and respectful to everyone, and never ask other members for money.
